No update so far but I am surprised that the developer has not resolved this problem before the release of iOS 13 this does not appear to be a new issue! Too many ‘sticking plasters’ it would seem instead of starting from scratch. After a lengthy exchange with Support, they acknowledged that they had had lots of problem reports concerning the app and ‘urgent’ work was already underway. However, the latest update appears to have made problems worse with iOS 13 and the traffic update is next to useless as the MyDrive app locks up after a few miles/couple of minutes. The idea of the Tomtom ecosystem sounds great and when it works, the system works well. Locking Up and Inconsistent Connection - Currently Useless Send us a DM via our Social Media channels: or Thanks' ^Rahyl We would like the opportunity to talk and investigate your feedback further. Hello there, Thank you for posting a review and we’re sorry to hear that your experience was not up to standards. Needless to say my £400 is staying in my wallet, and I’ll stick with my paper maps I suppose. But all the time it’s reliant on this utterly dreadful app to operate fully, it’ll never be truly fit for purpose. It’s a shame because the hardware seems to be well made and programmed. Because without Bluetooth, the hardware can’t receive notifications from your phone, which besides the traffic is the other thing I reallly wanted it for. Unfortunately this workaround doesn’t solve all the problems. Presumably because TomTom know it’s not a case of “if” but “when” you experience connection issues. You can work around it by setting up a phone hotspot and using WiFi, and even the app says “if you experience connection issues” to do this. Unfortunately it nearly never works with the Device constantly cycling between “connected” and “not connected” in the status page. The app basically operates as a bridge so that your TomTom can use Bluetooth to take advantage of your phones data connection this is how it receives traffic information etc. And the app, unfortunately, is utter garbage. I’m glad I did because while the hardware is great, I’ve found it’s entirely reliant on this app to use half of the functionality. I’ve been after buying a TomTom Rider for some years and having got to a situation where I can justify the cost, I asked to borrow a friends before committing £400 to buying my own.
